Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's top popular actors. Linney is renowned for playing strong characters who are equally fragile. Born to a renowned playwright's father, and was raised by a single mom, who earned her living as a nurse, she began to take an interest in theater while spending summers with her father, eventually studying acting, initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway following her graduation, she made her debut on film in just two years. She also appeared on TV within a year. Since then, she has appeared in many films, TV plays and stage productions. She has been awarded numerous prizes in her long career. These include 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Although she has received numerous awards, she still loves theatre and has appeared on both screen and stage.
