My son played in a playpen while I worked 12-hour days cleaning the floors, and removing wallpaper. Ha! Everything was starting to fall in place, yet we were nowhere near done. It was going to take a lot of money effort and shopping my favorite interiors to decorate this place. To keep within the budget, I started by taking my sons to estate sales looking for of diamonds. Every week, we spent the week of Thursday through Saturday at garage sales and estate sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. Then I stenciled and polished in the driveway throughout the week. Looked a little something like the picture below... This is where my passion for restoration of furniture started. I kept on restoring furniture long after we completed the renovation of our home. I had a stand at the local market and also sold items there. In the end, I was stuffed with too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the space available. At home, I would host open houses, where over 1000 people could come in and purchase any product they wanted on the first floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days was founded in my home. In addition to my thriving business, I also grew our family. In a way, I found the ideal balance between being a mum and launching my company. Growing Days fit perfectly. In 2013, my sweet daughter Nora was born. She is our fourth baby. This was a fantastic direction for my business however I was also in need of some time off. I got away from the old furniture in order to spend some quality time with my children. It was exactly the thing I needed. Within a couple of months, my phone started to begin to. People were calling me and seeking help for the interior decoration and improvements. The majority of them had visited my house at the open houses for furniture. The time flew by before I had a fully-fledged business for home improvement. I began by taking clients one by one at a pace that I could be confident in. If you had said to me that this company of mine could become an idea for a TV show on DIY Network I probably would have thought you were crazy. It's true that I smile when I think about the idea.
